What is a bequest?

A bequest is a donation you leave in your Will. Apart from personal bequests, you can also choose to support causes, programs, communities or institutions that align closely to your values or that you have a special connection with.

How to leave a bequest

To include a bequest as a Will clause, Anglican Church Southern Queensland recommends using the following wording:

“I give and bequeath the sum of $… [or the rest and residue of my estate] to the Corporation of the Synod of the Diocese of Brisbane for the general charitable and religious purposes of the parish of Holy Trinity Woolloongabba, and the receipt of the Diocesan General Manager shall be a sufficient discharge to my executor or trustee.”

You can also contact the Diocesan General Manager’s office for advice on leaving a bequest for a more specific or other Diocesan purpose.
